First day of half term!

It’s Monday and half term! We ventured out for some fun in the park, and the children immediately made a den which became a campsite. They made a fire, and really wondered which sticks were best for starting a fire... don’t worry we didn’t burn anything down! Pretend marshmallows were roasted, beds made out of logs and leaves collected for dinner! I was freezing but they didn’t seem to feel the icy breeze at all... I finally managed to lure them out of the forest by the promise of a playdate! Oh and what a fabulous playdate it was! Our host (and her boys) had made cookie dough that was apparently safe to eat raw! Not that it’s ever stopped mine licking the bowl out before... We came out with lots of interestingly shaped biscuits which were happily devoured!
After all that dinner needed to be something healthy, quick and easy! My husband and and I had some leftover spatchcock chicken from sunday dinner so we had wraps. But the children? I wasn’t ready to cook a meal that would be rejected so they each had a platter! A’s was a sandwich (peanut butter of course), biltong, pineapple (tinned) and peas(frozen... always frozen!) C is a bit easier so had chicken, potatoes, cheese, carrots, pineapple and biltong. Perfectly balanced... well the most important part to me was that it was finished!
I somehow missed Nutella day last week but have found a recipe for flapjacks with chocolate spread so will be trying that out tomorrow - and sharing my experience making different versions of granola bars.
